I was pumped post The Women In Tech breakfast @GeneralAssembly. Inspired by intelligent, hip and beautiful women that were not afraid to identify as #Tech #LGBTQ #SouthernBelle and #Sorority. Tech was pervasive pop and mainstream and girls who wore lipstick and dated other ladies were doing it... and talking about it...publically. Mostly they chatted #tech from the safe confines of basecamp but some had begun their precarious climb up through the crevasse. They heard it was cold, they heard people turned back, they heard many had died but they were prepared.
Post updating my project I had a #lifestyleBiz yoga #tech mommy type of day and headed from my women's pow wow to my fourth grade son's school to teach about #MobileApps. Wow what a freaking Plank for a day!?! I had advertised my exploratory mobile app learning class as 100% gender neutral. No matter a sea of 26 lil male faces stared up at me. As we had only one hour so with high level guidance from me were told to design a mobile app. I shared simple 10 year old gems like select your form factor and platform, name your app something less then 12 characters, be prepared to crawl out from the comfort of your machine to pitch your app in 30 secs to investors, make it "school friendly" and if your lost use a holiday theme to get you going. GO!!! Within minutes the room was awash with fourth grade boys cycling an imaginery blood bath of Scary Santas and Rampaging Snow Men. I coolly asked my male teacher/mommy sitter in the classroom deep in his iPad counting the 49 minutes til Thanksgiving break if the "holiday concepts" were indeed school friendly. This close to break anything goes and the boys set earnestly on with Killing the Holidays. Happy Holidays! Tradition Lives On!!!
